Well, it's been dead around here for a while. I guess it just isn't going to catch on. Sucks because there was a ton of money and time invested in this place. Has all the potential to be the most resourceful inspection website around, but if it isn't used then what's the point? Anyways, thanks to all that have contributed so much. The lights will be off soon....Matt

T/A and R&M positions 510/570

***********Posted for Larry B. send inquiries to him at the email listed below************

We have a need for a Contract T/A inspector in Calumet, Shreveport the first week of April, which will last approximately one month. Additionally we will need a R & M inspector for long term for anyone who would like to relocate to the Shreveport, LA area, or this would be good for someone already in the area. No relocation package would be available. Would require 510, 570, minimum with 653 a plus. Wages would be standard rate and be commensurate with experience and certs. This is a very busy atmosphere here so loafers need not apply. My QA/QC Manager has asked for resume's. Please post and have resumes in Word Format sent to me at larry.blanchard@calumetspecialty.com. I will review and forward worthy resumes to the QA manager.

Hey Matt, you up there full time???  How's it working out??  They/you don't make it sound too attractive, but not too bad, either.  Almost seems...Honest.  That's a nice change.  How flexible are the hours, if they get the right local guy, with a "get it" attitude and two Certs???

Possibly the worst thing an inspector can do is to Bullshit the client about the condition of his equipment.  The second worst thing is to fail to completely inspect the equipment, and indicate, even through the sin of omission that he has completed the inspection.  Anything else can be forgiven.

No Sir my friend, that was a post for Larry. He sent me a PM. Hopefully he can chime in and answer those questions. I'll edit the op for clarification.

Unless it's a salary position with a 40 hour minimum guarantee per week, not paying OT after 40 is illegal and could cause that local inspection company some serious problems with the department of labor. And if anyones agrees to that they can cause serious problems for them down the road, just ask Conam (Mistras) what happened in Cali when they didn't pay OT to several guys, Lawsuit, and Conam (Mistras) lost and had to pay the OT plus numerous fines.

Don't know about all that. Haven't had to deal with it myself, but they have been treating it as an Independent Contract position and within that agreement, it is an agreement that is accepted by the Independent which is exempt from normal 1.5 after 40 rules as waived. These contract inspectors up here have been working that way for years.

Thanks

Well if that's the deal those inspectors have been making they have been getting screwed for years then. This local inspection company is most probably charging the plant OT at 1.5x rate and paying the contract guys at ST rates, still illegal. If the company is not charging OT rates at 1.5x for hours worked then the contract writer for the company isn't too smart, the more money the employees make the more money the company makes. Even if they agrreed to the pay rate the labor board can still come down on the company, and the client if they are aware of it, pretty hard.

Local inspection company in Shreveport, La....

Well there ain't to many of those, so lets see....

M & S Global Inspection
Team Industrial Services
Applied Technical Services
Acuren Inspection

And it cant be acuren, since i work for them and would know that the job was available.
And I don't think it is ATS either, so that leaves the other two.

If i had my 570, i would probably be interested. Been to all of those plants at sometime or another with the exception of the Princeton Facility.

Inspector Hell - ain't that where you have a client that doesn't know what he wants, but is positive that he doesn't want to do it any of the ways that you are suggesting.
